Research Team
Each summer, I recruit students to my lab where they work on projects ranging from pain to biology education. Students who successfully advance a project are invited to continue their work with me throughout the academic year. Announcements for this summer opportunity are released in the Spring.
John Crespo
Biology - 2024
My goal is to obtain a PhD in Biology and become a medical scientist to improve cancer therapeutics to no longer rely on chemotherapy. I like to socialize with my family, friends, and play games whenever I have the chance.
Rosemarie Arroyo-Martinez

My goal is to study how emotional trauma affects the brain and leads to substance abuse and how this information is encoded in the brain.
Elizabeth Hardy
Biology - 2024
My goal is to obtain a Ph.D. in nutritional sciences. To this end, I am studying how monosodium glutamate affects pain in Drosophila. I enjoy volunteering with Alpha Kappa Alpha, cooking, and working out in my free time.
Isabella Baduini

My dream is to become a doctor. When I’m not studying or volunteering as an EMT, I spend time with family & friends, travel the world, spend time in nature, and write stories about life.
Kiyoshi Woods

My goal one day is to obtain my MD and become a Trauma Surgeon in the future, specializing in Neurosurgery. Outside of the realm of science, I love making playlists, watching way too many movies, and eating an unhealthy amount of ramen.

My goal is to obtain a Ph.D in neurobiology and research addiction with a focus in cannabis and alcoholism. In my free time, I like to build mechanical keyboards and play with my dog, Cookie.
